Last week, we visited the construction site of the Julia West Apartments in downtown Portland, and it’s inspiring to see this transformative project taking shape. Once completed, the 12-story building will provide 90 units of permanent supportive housing, a critical step toward addressing housing needs in our community.
Lancaster Mobley has been proud to collaborate with Holst Architecture, and Vega Civil Engineering on this meaningful project. Our contributions have focused on Traffic Signal and Street Lighting Design to enhance the surrounding infrastructure and support the project’s integration into the downtown streetscape.
Highlights of Our Work:
- Traffic Signal Design: We prepared detailed plans and diagrams to replace the existing signal pole at SW 13th and Alder with a new cantilever signal pole and controller cabinet.
- Street Lighting Design: Our designs include the removal of one existing metal light pole and the installation of three twin ornamental-style light poles, bringing improved lighting and aesthetic continuity to the area.
- Construction Coordination: Partnering with Walsh Construction, we developed and implemented plans to temporarily relocate an existing signal strain pole, ensuring seamless construction activities, including the placement of the site’s crane.
Stay tuned for more updates as the project nears completion!
